cracked steam radiaters

have a customer that had a major freeze up due to boiler not working gas was off they needed a new gas valve all the water pipes froze up, the steam radiaters are all cracked, they want to stay with steam heat will try to get them steam rads at a1 plumbing in somerville ma. was wondering if i could do something like use a piece of steel pipe with an air vent and rad valve to use as a temp radiater till replacements are availiable no one in the house right now they are in the process of moving in any suggestions would be appreciated

That should work enough to keep the house from freezing again
but I'd be interested to know why the radiators cracked, since they supposedly drain dry when the system is off- did a bad feeder flood the system?
