CO Tester

I do a fair amount of gas fired boiler installations. Can anyone recommend a good CO tester I can purchase. I am a frequent visitor to the wall and some of the stories I am reading about carbon monoxide poisoning are making me nervous!!!

CO testing
I swear by the Bacharach Fyrite-pro.
It reacts VERY quickly to changes in the burn so you get real time readings.
Once you start testing you will see how important it is.
If you EVER have any questions Bill, PLEASE PLEASE contact me.

If you want to do CO only,
I would go with the Bacharach Monoxor II or the new Monoxor III. I have a M II that still has the original CO sensor after almost 8 years. Testo makes good stuff too, although there repair pricing and customer service towards me recently left a lot to be desired, IMO.
One other idea is to go to A.I.M. at www.aimsafety.com They have a little belt clip CO tester that is mainly designed as a saftey monitor, but you can also get a hand pump attachment to test CO with it.0 -
I have
a Bracharch monoxor II and its great. just this week it found beer bottles in a chimney (emptys of course kids drinking on the roof) I am trying to teach it to find full bottles. Just kidding but I really like it. CO is a serious subject J.Lockard0 -
I have the same Testo
and I never leave the shop without it, unless I'm waiting for a new sensor............

\"Full Bottle\"
version is in the works!
Could lead to trouble though!
CO is a serious problem , but when you can get a funny in by all means do so!
Thanks Jim!

belt clip model
This is the model that we use for personal protection and general environmental sampling. Mine has held up very well and stayed in calibration quite closely as well. We calibrate every month and rarely see more than 1 ppm fluctuation. Happy testing.

MonoxerII comes with a steel wand or should you need to get in a tight spot connect to a piece of copper tubing. Hope this helps J.Lockard0 -
CO Meters
I own a Bachrach Fyrite Pro 120 a great meter reacts quickly, however the negative about this meter is when you measure high levels of CO the cell doesn't handle high levels 1700 + ppm with out shutting the unit down for a few hours or replaceing the CO sensor.
Testo over the last year or so has chnged there meter to meet the American market. It is slower to respond but handles higher CO levels better than Bacharach.
The TSI CO Meter 6100 series is fast handles high CO levels but has no back lite. Great customer service.
I have tested with all 3 of these units there all good and they all have a negitive aspect. Cost is very similar. If I had to pick one right now I would go with the TSI. Make sure you have a good light with you.
Aside from having a CO Meter is having training on how to test and knowing what to look for.
If any of you have the chance to attend a NCI seminar taught by Jim Davis, or Tim McIlwain seminar go and learn from these guys that have years of experience.
