boiler life
We see on average about 20 to 30 years for the life of a boiler here (Anchorage, AK). A lot depends on how well maintained it is. Less maintenance, shorter life. The newer boilers at 80% and more efficiency can usually repay for the replacement in 5 to 10 years based on cost of fuel.
A study done by ASHRAE several years ago show cast iron boiler Service Life at 30 Years, Furnaces at 18 Years.
