Can you vent a dryer straight up? I am asking because, I do not have the directions for it anymore.

    As a

general rule you can, but you should follow the dryer specifications, especially in the area of maximum height.

It is very important to keep the filter cleaned and to check the connection often to be sure the piping is not blocked. This can cause CO problems and is the most common reason for fires in a dryer.

Please find those directions or search on line.

what about venting into a bucket of water?

I saw this yesterday for a gas dryer, it vented into this bucket with a plastic bag over it in a basement. I didnt think was so good...

    No

I don't see any residentials allowed to be vented up, what would the cap look like? Dryer fires burn many homes each year, if you need more horiz. length you can buy long vent dryers.
