Any disadvantages to only having a half a tank of oil delivered instead of a full tank? Awful cold here and wondered if that was a regular practice. We're on automatic delivery and tank was getting low, glad they showed up. Do oil companies ration in weather like this? We're making a monthly budget plan payment and with the new boiler and previously mild weather were still ahead in the credit column. Would some delivery schedules be more apt to fill up an older boiler first that is not as efficient as a new one? Thanks Ed

Oil Delivery
It costs your oil company alot of money per hour to run a oil truck.
So In mild wheather they try to figure and drop larger loads.Too small of a drop eats into their profits..
And in cold wheather your oil company is trying to catch up with the demand of oil . With the workers and trucks that are running . Most drivers are layed off once spring approaches .So if there's a stretch of mild wheather in middle of winter you might receive a small load . they try to stay ahead for the next cold spell..0 -
The Driver.......
May have run out of fuel during the delivery, or worse, his filter could have frozen. My guess is they will come back to make sure that your "topped off" If your on automatic delivery, the small drop will wreak havoc with their computer and screw up your schedule. Have faith, they will take care of you . Chris0 -

Could be that the driver could't hear the whistle, and figured you were full. It might be in your best interest to call your oil company and let them know that you did not get a full tank. It could also be that your tank guage is wrong. Unscrew the plastic vial on top of the tank. Lift the indacator and then drop it. See if you can tell at what leval the oil is. A full tank is about 6-8 inchs from the top.0 -
I should have mentioned that the driver also wrote, "not full" on the ticket. Called the company and they said he must have run short and they would be back out to top off. Does not sound like it would be any disadvantage to me. Thanks Ed0
