Domestic Coil Removal Question

For a number of reasons I am no longer using the domestic coil in my Teledyne Laars Boiler. I have simply cut the pipes off about a foot away from the boiler. I am wondering what settings I should change the aquastat to, or if I should get a different aquastat now that I do not need hot water in the boiler all the time. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Also, should I worry about removing the coil, or will it just be fine where it is.

Thanks

Hi, I have basically the same boiler the Trianco DBC-125 with a 1.10x70* nozzle. I to do not use the coil. I cut mine about 4 years ago. This spring I am going to tackle removing the coil, due to lime scale forming around the in and out connections. They make a replacement plate with just the hole for the aquastat well. As for the aquastat settings I still use the L8124A triple. I keep the high at 180*, the low at 160* and the diff at 25*. During the off season I don't shut it down, I turn the low to 120*. Anyway thats how I do it. If anyone has a better idea let us know?

    aquastat settings

Harry, without a coil, there is no real reason to leave the boiler at low setting of 160 with that high a differential. These settings are to keep the boiler hot for domestic hot water. With the high at 180 and you're heating OK, I assume you are in milder climate that here in Maine. I would set the low around 125-130 and turn the differential down to 10. Check with the manufacturer of your boiler for recommended low minimum temp and use it as a true demand start boiler. It will recover OK and will be more efficient, especially in milder weather.

    why not keep

20° or 25°diff w/ the 130° Min? That way when it does fire on diff it will burn longer but fire less often.

I thought it was Boiler makes domestic water=lower Diff like 10*. Boiler does not make domestic water=higher Diff like 25*. Sound about right?
