So
we are involved in a system that was fine 10 yr running time until a contractor removed a 20 ft section of cast baseboard.
Now there is a hammer i say a hammer!!
customer can,t move forward with rennovations, until heating problem is solved.
In we come
1.found a slightly [.25 inch of mud
clogged return,.. replacced return line approx.. 30 ft[went from1 in to 1.25 ]
2.replaced all hoffmans [11 total]
3.removed and claened lwco and site glass
and auto feeder stainer. cleaned boiler 8 times plus [without steaming] with a degreaser.
replaced old p trol with vapor stat[also flushed lines with water removed water hammer by low oz,s of steam.
BOILER goes out on low water and then floods.
heat loss then complaints
original boiler
150.000 btu
383 direct radiation [385 measured]
weil mclain eg series
hmmmmm
no visable buried returns
running at 0 psi vapor
probe type lwco [hydroLeveL and same auto feeder]
6 min = 1 gal.

    One-pipe

    Counterflow with a wet return? Double check that return as a possible cause of the low water problem.
