    The #1 cause

of accidental poisonings in America. Brought to you by the heating industry.

Dan pointed out in "The Lost Art Of Steam Heating" that steam boilers were exploding on an average of 2 per day at one point. The "industry" got together to fix that.

Now 2000+ people die every year from CO, that's 5.5 people per day. Where's the "industry"?

There is a saying, "That which does not kill me makes me stronger".

My version is, "That which does not kill me makes me madder!"

So tonight a woman and her son cling to life in hyperbaric chambers. IF they survive, they will be missing two VERY important parts of their lives. They will also suffer the lasting effects of CO poisoning.

Every single one of the contractors that post on this site install equipment that is capable of killing people. Every one of you.

Whatever you all think of me is not the issue. The issue is our customers.

Many contractors think that the job ends when the equipment fires, but in fact, that is when people depend on us more than ever. That's when the problems start. When it burns.

Bacharach says that "If you don't test, you don't know".

I say, "If you don't test, YOU don't care!"

    My Day .............

Was filled with curiousity! wondering about my eldest son's, girfreind's family freind who died sometime during the night on tuesday morning. This young man was 18yrs old and just starting life, life without a father figure as his father had died six years ago as a result of CO exposure while working on a car. As much as we know now that this young Man was not a drinker nor to be involved with drugs. This leaves the mother with only one daughter and no male figures in her home. She works at the local furniture store (where I make some purchases and know most of the employees). Now I wonder is this the lady who sends me checks when I service the store or the owners home, or could this be the lady who calls when we are late on the last installment of a christmas gift purchased there, or maybe she is the one who greets me at the door when I stop by. This one is hitting close to home, they say autopsy will take two weeks(??). I really do not want to push too much in this time of loss, but I have a bad hunch this could have been a preventable tragety. I will follow up on this a post the outcome. One life is too many !!
