I'd like to hear feed back on the new water heater designs.
What brand do you install?
Part of my research!

installed state(ao smith), bradford white, rheem, american.... had problems with the new style with state(ao smith) and rheem, but not yet with bradford white.
all of the designs are different, but based on the same idea.
My pick, bradford white0 -
Can you give
details of problems?
I would really appreciate it!

Parts
We have had to ask the wholesalers to steal pilot assemblies to get things going. These were ao smith. I think one brand uses a standard thermocouple instead of a special one. This year the direct vents get the FVIR so the parts issue will get even worse.0 -
Thanks Dale
Could you please share some experiences with me?
Like I said, it is for reasearch.
TIA!

Mark, we put in State...
and so far working fine. We did have one where the gas valve regulator was set at 4.5". Pilot kept going out. Put in new valve set at 4.0" and has been fine.
I will say that these FVIR units will show any draft problems that may have gone unnoticed before. And I have a feeling we will wind up applying some Jim Davis controled venting practices with these units (barometrics).0 -
Thanks Glenn!!!
You see where this is going.
Seems to me the planets are lining up on this issue.
I spoke to one supplier that said they had already replaced 20 thermocouples.
Wonder why?????

I hope these are not off State WH's
because I was told at a class by State that the entire burner assembly with door and gaskets has to be replaced in the event of a bad thermocouple so that all the seals are intact.
I too wonder how many of those thermocouples are being misdiagnosed as other problems, by people who don't understand them.0
