I need to replace a large radiator with a smaller one. anyone know of a place in Chicago that sells used Cast iron radiators. Tried the place on Milwaukee ave but they only had one in the size I need and turns out it was cracked. any other suggestions. Need about 32 inch long by 8 wide and 20 high or a little smaller.

As for the one I took out, Where can I get rid of it. Hate to break it up as toss it. will trade for a smaller one.

    New

Call Control'd Dist. in Glen Ellyn and they will make up a new one to your specs. Won't be cheap but it won't leak.

    used radiators in chicago

Rob: Try Consumers Supply on Lake St in Chicago. They sell used and new radiators. Their selection of used is not nearly as large as B&B on Milwaukee but they get a supply in every few weeks or so. I've purchased from both places. You might ask your neighbors. Turns out a neighbor of mine remodelled their kitchen some years back and the contractor put the old kitchen radiator in the basement. I got a small 13 section radiator just for asking.
As for getting rid of the old radiator, good luck. Both above mentioned suppliers will buy your radiator for a buck a section -- not worth the effort. I just replaced a 24"Hx10"Wx7'L - a real monster. I couldn't give it away.
    Good luck!

Really looking for used and the new ones, well, look new. Like the older look and they are less.

Thanks for the link on Consumers on Lake street, I figured there was another place other then B&B. They were good, I had picked one out but then they tested it and told me it leaked, at least they are honest, The last one I bought there was just fine. I am guessing Consumers in on lake near downtown. I will look them up in the phone book. Thanks again, If you need a 30 section 4 inchs wide by 23 high 57 long let me known, It is in my garage.

The neighbors had some taken out, unfortunatly they are were in pieces.

hate to trash good working stuff, Have two antique stoves I need to get rid of as well. Just cant pull it together to take it all to Finkel to be recycled, To good of quality, hopeing someone would need it or want it someday.
