Can DC operated Zone Valves stick?

Heating system is gas hydronic system with 2 zones..at times first floor zone is demanding heat but nothing happens..second floor operates OK. Reason for my question,I went down to check system, gave the Zone Valve a little bang and that caused valve to close and circulator to trip on. This happens infrequently...very hard to trouble shoot...otherwise system works OK

Sure can
I would replace them and upgrade to 24 volt.
