Clow Gasteam Radiator

Here is a really cool radiator I just aquired. Anyone ever see one like this? It is a gas fired steam radiator. It has a regulator that cuts the gas as it builds steam pressure and an old non-electric valve to dial in the temp. you want. Dug it out of an old garage that was being demoed. Not sure what I am going to do with it but was too cool to just trash. I love these old things.

I have one of those stored away

In most places they are illegal to use nowadays. Yours looks like a later model with a vent connection. All the other ones I've seen were unvented. These units ran the risk of setting curtains on fire, which is another reason they were outlawed.

It might be possible to remove the burners and use it as a regular steam radiator.

I think I will keep it just the way it is and use it for a garage or shop of some kind just for short term temp heater.

Yes, I know, I will probably not really install it for a costumer, perhaps just for myself.

I'll take it off your hands. Donate it to Red Rocks and I can get you a recipt for the retail value of the
appliance:-) We do that all the time for the equipment we get donated there. You can stick you company name all over it if you want!

Hey Mark, I'll think about that and get back to you. What are you going to do with it anyway?

    Heck, I dunno...

maybe install it in John Breece's office:-)

Actually, I'd just have it for show to show the guys the early days of hydronic heating. Probably wouldn't even put a fire under it.

    Thanks for considering.

We have one of those in the museum.

I also have their catalog. They were still selling those in the early-60s.

You can also see them in Jerry Seinfeld's apartment on the TV reruns. They make nice props!
    Retired and loving it.
