Lose of a Young life

The highway near town was shut-down for a horrible car accident. A drunk driver got on the highway and drove the wrong way into a Ford explorer. The Ford was driven by two young boys who where both killed, they where 17 & 18 years old. One was the youngest son of a well known plumber from Danvers.
I can not Begin to imagine their grief.
How very, very sad.

Wasted Life
This accident was on the news. The report said the "drunk driver" had a record. We can have all the laws but when people don't follow them they serve no purpose. My first wife lost a brother at 19. Death is never easy but the death of a young person has a distinctive hurt to it.

Gotta get tough
Losing a license or driving priviledges doesn't mean squat to the person who wants to drink and drive. All they need is a car. The drunk drivers need to pay dearly and many of them do with their own lives. The ones that live should spend a maximum sentence in jail AND perform community service, helping victims of drunk drivers AND force them to watch a videotape of their victim's funeral and see the grief and destruction they have caused AND get them into rehab. The ANDS could go on forever -- which is exactly how long grief and suffering last.0 -
Well said John,
but who are these "drunk drivers"?
Were any of them at the games yesterday? At birthday parties last night or just at friends houses having a "couple" before heading home? Were any of them our brothers or sisters or Aunts, Uncles or even Mom or Dad. Were they us?
Of coarse they are.
There may never be a solution because the only one's we'll punish, much to leaniently, are those who are caught or tragically, those who do what happened in Manchester-by-the-Sea.
Prayers go out to those tragically touched by this much to easily cured curse.0 -
how many people
were killed over someone drinking a few beers? The beer companies make their money, people who buy beer support these companies If we all stopped drinking beer (any drink containing alcohol) These companies would be out of business. 20 thousand people a year will be alive, these 2 kids would be alive. But hey we NEED our beer.0 -
you are wrong leadpipe
This is a tragedy..but the beer isn't the problem..its the idiots who drink and DRIVE.
I can guarrantee that drinking beer in my den will not kill 1 person....EVER. unless I am stupid enough to drive..and I never do that...and I do mean NEVER.
I had and older buddy who died at 19 ( the legal drinking age here)from a drunk driver.. really a sobering thought at that age, and I have NEVER done it.
Your argument can be extremed and say quit buying cars, even more lives would be saved. Beer was a factor. Driving was the mistake. Being stupid (driver)was the cause of death.
My prayers to the families involved.
