Hot Water ,2 zone system with baseboards..replacing first floor thermostat with new fangled timer unit...new thermostsat has a "heat anticipator" setting..I can't find similar setting on the old(30 yrs")thermostat to compare.

First floor doesn't come up to heat setting..otherwise system is working ok.

Thanks
Al

    gas or oil?

what does the t-stat control: a circulator relay, an oil burner primary (the control on the burner), a gas valve, a zone valve, other? The controlled device(s) should be labeled w/ an anticipator current setting e.g. "0.4A" alternately, with a clamp-on ammeter you can measure the current, but if the t-stat shuts off before the room is warm enough, set the anticipator to a higher number (it should be marked 0.1 to 1.2 or so and perhaps "longer" w/ an arrow pointing to the 1.2 end. If it has a cycles/hour setting instead, then set it to a lower number of cycles per hour instead, and see what happens.

Thanks for reply...gas heat..thermostat is tied to controls that switch circulator and relays that are on the return side of the hotwater system. Thermostat control is labeled .1 to 1.2 current setting is .3...pushed that up from .2...seems to hold temp better

    thanks for your help
