Shut off the boiler feed valve and take note of the pressure gauge , then see if it drops. You mave have a leak some where . Does the heating pipe duck in the slab some where ?

Need a good hydronics guy in Suffolk County (Long Island)

Hey gurus! (-:

My four zone hydronic heating system is way out of kilter, and its causing me all kinds of headaches.

The setup is an oil fired boiler, air scoop and vent on the supply out of the boiler, expansion tank right after that, then supply manifold to all four zones, each with its own check valve. Circulating pumps and purge valves are on the return side for all four zones (I know, its not "pumping away", but I didnt build the house!).

Our problems started when one of the circulating pumps was replaced last winter. Since then, that zone that is constantly failing (pump and controls are fine, but no circulation), leading me to bleed from the purge valve to get things cooking again. This is an almost daily routine now. Argh!

To make matters worse, this morning the two zones upstairs just stopped working. Again, pumps are working, stats are good, but no circulation. Bleeding those zones worked this morning, but doesnt work now, and I'm stumped.

My guess is that I now have a system that is either air-bound, out of balance, or a combination of both. Either way, I'm over my head and looking for a good hydronics guy that can fix it.

Anyone not totally booked this weekend?
