i am looking for a co tester for testing gas and oil furnaceses. also is there a book or a class that shows what to look for ? i am new to this industry.

Bacharach!!!!
I use the Fyrite Pro125, and it is an impressive tool. Continuous sampling, so you can quickly see the results of any burner settings you change.
Bacharach's web site also has a great training section that you can spend literally HOURS browsing.
