It started out as a drip

to fix a leak on a mixing valve in the boiler room. We did a radiant system for the neighboor a couple of years ago.
We found a mixing valve that's piped wrong with a leak at the threads. (The instructions for the mixing valve clearly showing the right way to pipe it was on the floor of the boiler room) We know there was water in the slab piping because of the leak. And get this....there's no doors installed on the garage!!!
I spoke with the owner. He told me the heating contractor was supposed to pipe the slab for radiant and leave it unhooked for future connection. Well, he piped it, connected it to the boiler piping and wired it but there's no stat and of course NO DOORS!
I took some pictures, one shows the slab temp with an infrared thermometer. I think it may be frozen! Now I get to figure out how to remedy the situation!
Oh yeah, the doors are supposed to be installed next week!
It's going to single digits here tonight!

Oh boy!
Let it be till the doors are on! Sometimes new piping will stand a freeze at least once! Then get it warmed up with some kind of temporary heating, rembering CO contamination! In the mean time get it piped correctly and be ready to start it when it thaws out. Watching a pressure on the boiler for leaks or Disconnect the slab piping and set a air pressure against it. There is a slim chance it could be ok! and the drip was the guy who allowed it to be connected to the water ! Good luck!0 -
True dat!
Could be trouble. I had to pay for digging up a slab and re-running some tubing that froze and broke in multiple places. Thank God for insurance. It was the only time in 18 years I had to file a claim. So glad I had it. WW

Seal it up
get some sheets of 2" foam and build some temporary doors. Then get some heat on.
My former co. thawed a snowmelt mid winter once. The owner got a bunch of garden hose from K mart, and spread it on the drive. Then the guys covered it with InsulTarp and connected it to the boiler. It worked!
An old PB system with no breaks.
The sooner you get it thawed and running the less potential for problems with the tube, I think.
Good luck
