Should I look for a new plumber?

I am wondering because of this issue with the pressure in my system. We have had our plumber in several times this year and last to ask why we were having such problems with our steam heat -- he did some work on the radiators, replacing vents and valves and some piping, but apparently never bothered looking at the pressuretrol. When I called him up yesterday to ask about the pressure he said, "Oh, it should never be so high as that! You need to lower the pressuretrol!" -- which I had figured out from reading articles here and the answers to the question I posted here. But now it is seeming to me like this ought to have been one of the first things he checked last year when we called him in. Any thoughts?

is he trainable?0 -
Well, I've just started learning about steam heat -- I'm not really in a position to train a plumber, who I think ought to know more about it than I do...0 -

????
Has he responded in the past? Have you had problems with his work? Should he have seen the pressure? yes, does that make him a bad plumber?NO. He missed it for what ever reason. we are not perfect out here. So I guess you should ask yourself some Ques.and If you don't like your ans. Well it's your house.

I agree
Sounds like he just missed it. Sometimes you get so caught up trying to solve a problem you just miss the obvious. No one is perfect. At least he knew it was too high after you mentioned it!

I guess you are right
He seems to know what he is doing in general. I guess I will just try to get an education for myself in steam heating, so I can be able to notice when something is going wrong.0 -

Alas, I don't know enough to answer that question. I will ask my plumber to check that.0
