Are pagers obsolete?

I have posted on this site in the past and received some valuable input. I am the co-owner of an answering service that only works with companies within the HVAC/R industry. I have noticed that fewer and fewer of my clients use alpha-pagers and those that once used them have switched to nextel. I was curious of any professionals still rely on pagers? Thanks for your input.

I do
I find it easier to carry the pager, is smaller, the battery stays charged longer. I also feel ( maybe wrongly ) that if customers know its a cell phone they will be more likly to call with " A quick question ", if they know its cell phone.
Just my 2 cents

I couldn't get along without my pager. It seems like most of the areas I work in will pick up a page but will not work for cell phones. Doesn't matter which phone service I have tried them all. The problem is pager's are becoming very difficult to replace as well. I don't know what I'm going to do when this one brakes or I lose it.

pagers
I will always have a pager. They work everywhere and I can screen every call for priority response or later call back. Too many people have my cell phone number already!!!
We use alpha units and it works out best.
Thank you for your response back to me the other day....good luck with your business!! I'm gearing down and writing my escape plan, so I won't be looking into your service, but I know lots of people who may be interested. Send me some info.

Thanks everyone
I am very grateful for the input. It's very comforting to know more about the HVAC/R industry first hand from actual professionals, not just impersonal industry studies. Thanks again everyone.
