Series Radiators

In the master bedroom there are three radiators - two small ones (25 inches) on each side of the bed and one large one (72 inches) under the window.

The two small one have been disconnected. Looking at the piping it appears these were directly conected to the in and out piping without valves or traps.

Is it possible these three radiators were hooked in series and used the trap on the large radiator.

One other possibility, on the second small radiator there may be enough space to provide a trap. Then the question becomes would the original installers set the two small radiators in series using no valve and only one trap?

Thanks,

PS: House is 90 to 100 years old and the furnace was replaced 2 years ago. It's a low pressure unit firing natural gas.

    You can.....

....but watch the pitch. The pitch can be a problem , I am assuming thats why they have been disconnected..
