Pilot lite keeps going out. Problem started after a new 90% hot air furnace was installed. Old furnace & hot water used to share common B vent stack. new furnace is now vented through wall. After relighting one month ago I heard a driping sound.

Water Heater Woes
That dripping sound you heard was probably normal. If the water got cold while the pilot was out, as soon as you lit it condensation formed and dripped down around the burner. A few issues could be occuring. 1) Not enough gas pressure with the new furnace being in 2) The b-vent which was previously heated by the wh and furnace is now only heated by the wh and is probably cold more often. As smoke pipe gets cold, it doesn't draft as well. 3)The b vent which used to serve both appliances is now oversized for just the water heater and is drafting too much. Sounds like you need to call an expert.0 -
Now that I think of it, you should also try changing your thermocouple (looks like a copper wire) this senses flame and sends a message to the gas valve to light0 -

first
1. if you relight does it stay lit, and for how long?
2.do your cold air returns connect directly to the furnace, or do they just drop into the basement?
