With all the experience on "The Wall".

I have Bats in my Attic.

Crap, how do I get ride of them?

Dan, PAH, Hot Rod, Bean, ME, Good Fellas, HELP.

You guys have seemingly run into everything.

I called Ozzie, and he's not hungry.

Got five kids and these suckers are causing quite a racket.

Heck the Government isn't even sure what's in Bat Crap.

Seriously looking for good advice and expecting to get some laughs in pursuit of resolution.

Forget the Bats, ESPN's Sportscenter just said JOE GIBBS might come back and coach the Redskins.....Oh Please be true.

    bats

Find out where they are getting in then go up late evening and seal it up when they are out side. I would be carefull a girl died from rabies here in Connecticut when a bat scratched her in her sleep. Bring a net with you when you go in the attic in case you get bit. Catch the Bat, kill it, but don't damage the brain and DON'T FREEZE IT. Call your Health Dept and they will sent it out to be tested.

Or you could take youe own advice and call an expert.

    Two words..

Tennis racquet! But seriously, the previous post was right try and find where they are getting in and seal it up. I had signs of bats in my new (old) house and when I closed the window the former owner had left open the problem went away.

    Get an exterminator!

Bats are known vectors of rabies, also be sure to remove fecal material and any urine damaged insulation. Wear a HEPA respitator, protective clothing, and gloves, wash thoroughly after cleaning the attic.

As a wethead, you should be able to relate to a "bat check valve". Bats are free to leave, but can't get back in. I have some experience here. Bought old house in winter, woke up a lot of slumbering bats during demo and remodling. Tennis racket works good, screaming doesn't. Woke and killed 5 bats. I had piles, heeps of bat dung. Have fun cleaning and deorderizing! When warmer weather came they were making so much noise in the eaves you could hear it from the side walk. Called the "profesionals" and spent several hundred dollars. Still had bats untill summer when I finished repairing siding, facia and soffits. Went through every inch and sealed the house. What I learned from the "profesionals":
1.My house was considered a rare bat "roost". Usually one or two bats per house where I had several.
    2. Determine where they are entering and exiting, bat dung on ground and stuck to side of house, openings obviously.
    3. Seal up all but "main" openings with steel wool/mesh and then finish with what works for your house.
    4. In the main opening install a bat CHECK VALVE. This is a large mesh screen that loosely hangs over opening. bats can climb out, drop and fly away but they cant get back in. After I installed, the 1st night I observed pissed off bats climbing out of house into this check valve and back in the house. There was 4 or 5 at a time in this check valve. They eventually figured out or dropped out (literally) how to get out of the check valve.
    5. Leave this up for a week or till your're convinced they are all gone and seal it up with steel wool or mesh and whatever for finishing.
    6. I learned on my own to monitor your sealed openings. I had one of those buggers chew through a couple inches of wire mesh that the profesionals installed actually. 10 yrs ago, they charged $75 do climb a ladder and stuff wire mesh in a hole! $75 per hole.
For any bat huggers, I was courtious and installed a bat house none of which took to.

    Sorry to hear about your

bats. They are good to have around as long as they are not in your house. By the way. Joe Gibbs is back, Joe Bugel is back. This town is pumped. It will be interesting to say the least to see what happens with the Redskins this coming year. I can't wait. Way to Go Dan Snyder. WW

    Dear bats in the belfry

We always suspected you had bats in your.......

Seems to PAH that a kinder gentler Riles must prevail. No evil John Mack attack with a french-fry racquet are warranted from one so kind hearted as yourself. No getting Riled Riles(G).

Several idears come to mind after consuming beverages.

In Mexico, they sell tickets to tours wherein touristas willingly enter into feet-deep guano infested caves (no doubt drunk and barefoot) to view bats the size of small cars up close and personal. In vite the neighbors over for a bite!

I've seen Jeff Corwin with bats crawling up his bare legs and attaching themselves to his - ahem - sensitive regions. If he can take it, so can you.....

Bat guano burning condensing boilers - you might be onto something there!

No West Nile Virus in or around your house since the little beasties will do a better job than any of the K-mart bug zappers.

No need to slather up with OFF when having a barbeque!

They leave at night and sleep during the day. You leave during the day and sleep at night. Sounds just like teenagers to me. At least they're not watching MTV and playing rap music! Not to mention they're not hogging up all the hot water.

The folks at PETA will give you a citation.

No wasps in the eaves this summer!

    Coincidence or ????

Today's cartoon "Closer to Home" had the perfect solution.

Cover yourself with peanut butter, stand in the middle of the attic and then when all the bats are "stuck on you" jump out of the window into the swimming pool.

OK, you had to see the picture.

    Good luck with your removal.

    Bat terminator

I would get a hold of a good ol' Cheasapeake Bay 10 gauge goose gun.:-) To be politically correct use steel shot shells:-) place a comfy old chair in the attic and wait for the suckers to come flying in an shread them one at a time. Happy Batting.

    Bats CAN be beneficial...

and they can also be a pest. In the mountains, I build bat nests hoping to attract them to control the misquito populations.

I googled bat elimnation and came up with this..

Additinal information can be gotten at

Now that Gibbs is back into football, I wonder whats going to happen to his racing career, or would that be racing car rear...

Now, if Denver can just find a football team. (Gad, how emberassing was THAT schellacking..)

    What's a couple of bats.....

JOE GIBBS is back. It has been tough to focus on anything other than the fact that the Redskins might actually be headed back to respectability.

As I expected, thanks for some excellent advice. I was apprehensive about doing anything without some advice.

Late last night I closed up, what appeared to be the bat entrance, an opening in the mesh on by gable vent.

After one full day, it appears I may have pulled it off.

I would rather cheer for playoff wins for the Redskins, but for now I am hoping the silence indicates a victory in the attic. Hopefully, they were not too comfortable and seek out another entrance.

    Thanks again, RILES

Have I mentioned JOE "Our Saviour" GIBBS is back.
