Yeah,...... we install that type of system as our "low income special". We don't install any thing like that, if they have a little bit of $$$$........ MAN I AM FUNNY TONIGHT. SWEEEEET!! (Stolen from the Dodge commercial)0 -

Hey, what is it, and what does it do.....Don't leave us hanging.0 -
This system is a 10,000 sq. ft. custom on a 40 acre private island in the san juan islands in washington state.
The systyem has 12 zones of radiant floor with 3 zones of second stage.
Two buderus G115/32 oil fired boilers with riello burners piped primary/secondary with a Tekmar two stage boiler control also a buderus ST-401 106 gallon water heater for domestic water heating.0 -

Looking for some positive external validation?
You got it baby. Nice looking package (G)
Seriously, Thanks for sharing that bit of paradise with us. I specialy enjoy the control wiring. Neat as a pin.
Let me guess? You weren't the lowest bidder?
Next time, try a fully condencing oil boiler. Ask your Buderus salesman for details;-)

Who do you work for? I used to do alot of work in that area. I almost looks as if you have had some experience working on the big rigs by the way you set up your panel. We do it very similar in our panel shop but for much larger control systems...0 -
just by looking at this job you can tell that it was installed by a professional contractor.
i see you used grundfos circulators. what model were they? do you always use grundfos? have you used there super brute model ups15-58fc three speed pump with built in check valve?
on the copper piping for future jobs you might want to check into RIDGID'S PROPRESS copper fittings and crimping tool. you can join copper tubing types M - L -K with these fitting and there is no soldering. they have fittings fron 1/2" up to 4". these fittings are rated at 200psi and up to 250 deg. they also come with a 50 year warranty. this system can save a lot of time and money when installing jobs like this one. go to ridgids web site to check it out.
great work bob eck0 -
I have my own company Apex Radiant Heating, we specialize in radiant, no scorched air.0 -
Grundfos
Yes I use Grundfos on all my jobs, have tried Taco but had bad luck on a couple of jobs, noise, pump failures also don't like their flange orientation. A lot of our projects are in the San Juan islands and can be up to a 5 hour round trip, so call backs can kill you.
I have not used a UPS15-58FS I have used a lot of UPS15-42F though work great on injection systems and small sections of baseboard or radiator pannel.
The pumps on this job were UP15-42F,UP26-64F,Up26-96F,UP26-99F.

Good Job
Very nice work. I like your system a lot. Keep it up.0 -
Coming off each pump, the line runs straight and also branches to the right to a valve of sorts. What is this valve?
Nate0 -
Valves
The valve is a differential pressure by-pass, it limits max pressure going to a manifold or group of manifolds to avoid volocity/noise problems when only a small zone is calling, as the punp is sized for all loops on that circut.0 -
Duh... Stacey! That makes sense. I used to work for R&H now I work for Proctor Sales.. Small world.0
