New Buderus Install
JP
Member Posts: 8
This is a job we just finished. Customer went with top of the line equipment. Tried to get them to go with the Logamatic Control with outdoor reset but they refused. Buderus G115 with a LT160 indirect tank. Removed the old York furnace and installed a new 15 SEER Lennox 410A variable speed air handler with a hot water coil and a 1000 CFM HEPA air cleaner. It was nice to work with customers who knew what they wanted and they wanted top of he line.

Nice Job , they wont regret it although they should have went with the Logamatic control . Mine has been up and running for 6 weeks , excellent system , best investment I made in my renovation ....Rich..0 -
is that...
a beckett on there? Why not a riello or carlin? Nice clean work.I also noticed that you put a swing check on the primary loop...why? kpc0 -
Becket Burner
Yes Kevin that is a Becket burner. I know Iknow but i did not sell this one the "salesman" did. I would have used a Reillo myself but the system does run great. After setting up the combustion it is at 85-3/4%. We have the same system in the companys owner house and it has been going great for four years, regular service and they purr.
The check valve was a mistake. I had one marked on my layout by mistake and forgot to erase it and in trying to get the hot water on it was put in, did not realize it until it was all piped in. So we took the guts out and now we have a nice brass coupling.
I agree with you Rich about the logamatic. It's the way to go, I tried hard to sell them on it but to no avail.
Thanks for the comments guys we all appreciate learning from them.

Beautiful job
I know that took a while and was not cheap. Why couldn't they spring just a little more for the logomatic? It's not just guilding the Lily. How many days for the boiler side of the job? WW

Hey Kevin,
When I was at the Buderus center in N.H. last year, they had the Beckett combo in a boiler making the hot water for the place. I had to go over and put my hand on it to make sure it was what I was hearing. Very quiet! Chris0 -
Nice Job
I like the way you did everything but I have just one question. Do you pipe your jobs like this normally and do you ever run into problems with the 2 dissimilar metals? I am just curious why you used black iron up to the point of the pump and than switch to copper. Why don't you use copper all the way from the bottom up? Also if there was a reason you used black iron that was more beneficial than using copper (other than preference) please let me know.
I will say this it really looks sharp and very proffessional.

Nice job,the only thing that's hard to tell is,do you have the circs on the return or the feed?If they are on the return, you may have a problem with the flow check in the one circ. What I've had to do is remove the flow check whenever the circs are on the return side.Had a problem with the relief valve blowing off, called Buderus and they said the new taco circs with the flow check causes that problem.Removed flow check and haven't had a call since.0 -
Thanks to everyone for the comments. I will try to answer everyones questions.
Wayne, The total job took 5 days. This included having to relocate the existing water heater for temporary use. The actual boiler work, setting the boiler, all of the piping, controls, flue and setup took 3-1/2 days - 2 men.
Justin, We usually try to pipe as much as we can in black pipe. We have some jobs that are piped in all black, these are usually old houses with old gravity systems. Some we may do all in copper. Really depends on the job. We find that we can pipe faster in black pipe. This job we piped almost the whole primary loop on the floor. We also can remove the whole assembly just by unbolting the pumps and taking apart two unions. On dissimilar metals, yes I do worry about eletrolosis and normally I would have die-electric unions installed where necessary, I wear about five different hats at this company and just plain forgot to order them, so we put black unions in their place so if we have any problems in the future it's a real easy fix. The water on this job is also treated to maintain a neutral 7.0 ph. We have to connections on the two return lines to worry about, (keeping my fingers crossed!).
Andy, System is set up with a primary/secondary piping and all pumps are on the supply side of the loops.
Thanks again for the comments,
John0
