Dirty water in steam boiler

We have a 300,000 BTU Weil McLain steam boiler that is about 2 1/2 years old that appears to have dirty water in the system. I flush it out once a week, from the boiler and the return lines. Our local heating place said that was too often because adding new water introduces other elements into the system. A technician flushed all the water out and re-filled, a bit above the recommended Weil-McLain level. The boiler seems to work fine and the automatic feed doesn't come on as much. What is the proper way to routinely clean? Also, would it be helpful to replace the return lines? Is it a good idea to insulate the return lines?

WM Dirty Water

I've got a 1,200,000 WM steam boiler, and also a Peerless of comparable size. The WM always has much more dirty water than the Peerless. The WM is about 5 yrs. old, and the previous boiler never had that much sediment in the water either. That leads me to believe its from the boiler itself. Not sure why, but I hope it doesn't reduce longevity!
