an awful noise

Im a newbi to this feild and just recently a trade school graduate at a tech school that was more geared toward a/c and refrigeration spectrum.At my house my wife was in the kitchen washing dishes and when she turned on the water there was a horrible noise and when she turned down the water the noise went away. What could this be and how can I correct this problem??????

Loose faucet washer, sometimes.

If it just started happening , a loose washer is probably the culprit . You can also get banging noises from a globe valve installed in the wrong direction of flow .0
