    steam uneven in radiator

    I have a one pipe steam radiator with a "C" vent. Radiator is 48" high x 7 sections x 3 column. Radiator is pitched and vent hisses air. However only the first 3 section get hot (even when I let the system run for an hour). I rodded the bottom of the radiator - found no obstruction. Any ideas? why 4 sections are not getting hot?

    Bad main vent...

    on the main feeding the radiator perhaps, forcing the radiator vent to double as a main vent? Very long riser to the radiator which must also be vented?
