set it at eye level.....
where the air changes (like a hallway) ,best to put near the bedrooms and also near any combustion equipment.

Master Bedroom
is what we recommend for the first detector, then if you want more, other bedrooms, halls living room, etc. Reasoning is if you are asleep when a CO condition begins, you want to be woken up as soon as possible so that you can still function enough to prevent a tragedy.

One in every bedroom
at a level of "Head to Bed" my saying. It should be mounted in such a way as to measure startified level of CO. The specific gravity of CO is .97 as compared to air which is 1.0. That means the CO will slowly rise to the ceiling and sort of stratify at standing "Head" level. The bed says that it should be no lower than the "BED" level as when you are sleeping.0 -
Agreed
I would NEVER recommend plugging one into a low wall outlet.
Also keep in mind that small children can sleep right through alarms.

Good Idea to have
an audio and visual system in childrens bedrooms to watch and listen until they are old enough to somewhat care for themselves. I think that is at about 35 years old.0 -
