Wirsbo

Has anyone used the Multipress fitting system for Wirsbo's multi core tubing?I know Heatboy has to have tried it.Opinions?I can't believe I just found out about it,guess I need to check out their website more often.

Just what I need another tool to buy after I just layed out big $$$ for the Ridgid propress. While I'm thinking about it is there any plans from Wirsbo to make an adapter that can go from copper to Wirsbo pex?I hear that Stadler has such a fitting.Anyone from Wirsbo?

Page 16 March 2003 Wirsbo plumbing catalog For Propex to cooper pipe and fitting adapters. Page 15 - 16 in the heating catalog March 2003. I think the MultiCorpress fittings just hit the street with an October 2003 catalog. If I had a Rigid cordless propress tool I would try the Wirsbo crimping jaws in that tool. I have a feeling that they will work.

    I guess!

I'm not the only one who didn't know the system was even available.

Anyone from Wirsbo around care to comment? This would have been a better weekday post.

    I'm not sure............

how long it's been available, Felcie. I believe they are going to start promoting it this month. Multipress has been in the works for a year now. It has just taken that long to get the fittings made to Wirsbo's specs. I have a few manifolds with 3/4" MultiCor in and the REMS tool is very cool.

Using MultiCor is a two man operation when installing S&R piping. compared to hePEX. But the fact that it stays where you put it and I don't have the issues of expansion noise make it my choice for supply and return work. I still have loads of 3/4" and 1" pipe and fittings to use up before we completely switch over. And I'm sure my distributors will **** and whine about stocking ANOTHER new Wirsbo item ;-)

    Dealerships anyone?

    Multicore

Yeah we've worked with 3/4 and 1" multi before and it is a bit difficult.I like the 1/2" for baseboard but didn't care for the compression fittings, so this might be the solution.

Supplier stock lately has been a big problem for us, with so many new fittings and sizes.

Have you heard anything about a copper propress adapter that can go to Wirsbo pex?

    For a press fit tool

also consider the REMS. They make 4 models of the tool and hundreds of tong choices. Looks like they make tongs for virtually every fitting available.

I suspect the Wirsbo, and others are selling the REMS tool.

Be nice to have just one tool for all the copper and pex press or crimp fittings.

    Not directly, John

I have no info on such a fitting, John. Not a bad idea, though. For now, use a D4577575 3/4" MultiPress Fitting (MultiPress x FNPT) and a Q4526375 3/4" ProPEX (ProPEX x MNPT). Best option I can think of, currently. Now with ProPress, 1 coupling and any two fittings you need will do the trick.

propress to pex ,John and Heat Boy

what I would try if I had had a propress(Can't justify the tool cost to my bookkeeper/mistress of the house yet. The love of my life just doesn't fully apreciate the difference between MEN & boys) is the Propex cooper fitting adapter in a Propress coupling. Or is the brass adapter too hard to crimp the proress coupling on. Found out about the MultiCor press fittings and cordless crimping tool at MinicampII in December. The tool is a REMS & the battery is interchangable with the black cordless Expander tool. The tool that I saw is pistolgrip and the crimper head did not rotate on the front of the tool. I think the Rigid cordless would be more versatile since the crimper head can rotate on the front. When at ISH in Toronto the REMS people were running Rigid jaws on their tools and have a assortment of jaws for other crimp systems (Stadler etc.) I suspect that one tool (Rigid, Rems, Victalic) as long as the jaws mount properly and close fully will make all the crimps. I suspect all the crimps are complete when the jaw fully closes not based on tool torque or pull lenght? Is my thinking accurate or flawed?
