    cold turkey!

14+ years ago I put down the habit. As a 4-pack-a-day smoker, that was the most difficult thing I've ever done. If I can do it, so can you - I'll be pulling for you.

My deciding moment after years of "quitting", was a 2-year-old son who waltzed across the livingroom - picked up my Boros - flipped open the box lid - grabbed one at the filter using his teeth (I always did that cause my hands would be dirty) - and grabbed my lighter. He did that as if he'd been smoking for years!

We left for vacation that Friday (to Virginia - the land of cheap cigaretts no less) & I smoked my last one that night. Lois remembers that hell-week as if it were yesterday!(G) I wouldn't drive anywhere because I didn't trust myself to pass by a store.

It took a year before the last craving left my addicted mind. For three years, it smelled tantalizing. Now I can't stand the smell.

Do it for your family, but most of all - do it for yourself.

    Murph

Yesterday I vowed to do more fishing and drink more beer in 2004. Went across the road and down to the North Fork yesterday looking for steelhead. It's been too long since I took time to do that.

Good luck on stoppin' the smokin'. Perhaps you could substitute something else. Have you considered knitting?

That makes me very happy. Good for you!

As for me, I'm going to learn how to speak Spanish (been a long time since High School), and I'm going to learn how to juggle.

    Take up...

breathing Murph. I know it's a new concept to your body, but it has experience, and it longs for clean air. Oxygen does wonders...

Hang in their pal. Been there, done that, and I don't regret it.

    Good luck Murph

My New Year's resolution was to think about quitting. And so far, I have kept it. I have thought about it quite a lot.

I hope all is going well.

    Do it for the boy.

Maybe start a piggy bank with all the money you would spend on the butts. Buy yourself something you've always wanted. Give yourself a reward, you deserve it. Good luck.

Hey Dan are you taking classes ? I would really like to learn to speak spanish.

a three-part course called Unforgettable Languages. It uses association-memory techniques. Good stuff. Here's a link to their site:
