What's your New Year's Day weather?

Greeted with the usual above average temps and no snow here in southeast Michigan. It's been that way all of December. I doubt that it is hurting the heating guys since all of the furnaces are running, albeit not as much as usual.

The forecast is for the 50s tomorrow and then temps go south. Looks like snow and rain Sunday, just in time for me to be hopping on a plane. Go figure.

Stay safe out there folks!

    It's dumping

Lot's of snow here in White Salmon WA. My wife just dusted off the cross country boards and headed up the street. The last couple of years have been mild with no snow. This weather is making it hard to install the hot tub I gave us for Christmas, oh well.

    45 here in NE

With an overcast day ( to match my overcast is it hungover ).

The boys and I are in the office giving Mom a break. We took a walk around the industrial park and looked at all the equipment.

    Fun.

    Fairbanks, Alaska has....

-27 below and calm. (Thank Goodness) Going to about -35 tonight. And I'm the one on call. Ugghh! could be alot worse though. Saw on the local news tonight record cold for this day was -58 below in 1982. I tell you, when it drops off like that, it is usually due to a monster high pressure ridge squatting on us like a 500 pound gorilla. They usually come and stay for about 10 days. I tell you, 10 days of between -45 and -55 makes for some very busy furnace men here in our neck of the woods. Happy and prosperous New Years to all.

    A little milder here...

Got clear up to -18°F this afternoon, just before the sun dropped over the horizon. Headed for around -30° again tonight... guess I'll leave the motorcycle parked.

    50 below? Wow!

I can't imagine that. I lived through some cold winters where the wind chill was down to 25 below and life basically came to a standstill around here. I imagine that if you're used to it, you go about your business and your body toughens up to take the cold. My hats off to you folks. Fifty years in "mild" Michigan has me thinking of warmer temps as soon as the kids are out of school!
