RHEEM HOT AIR UNIT PROBLEM

Hello all and Happy Newyear... I have a Rheem hot air unit with a beckett gun--runs nice but the problem i have is--While cleaning the unit this year-I noticed that the Combustion chamber isnt doing well-falling apart-But the rest of the unit is in mint condition...Exchanger and so on...
When i pull the gun out-I have 6 nuts that hold the combustion chamber in on a round plate-The entire chamber slides out in 30 seconds...Its suspended around the exchanger so no flame hits any part of the exchange..
The fact that my chamber is cracking and falling apart doesnt make me sleep well--I called Rheem gave model numbers of my unit--but they told me i have to buy the exchanger and chamber as a unit--All i need is a chamber installs in 2 mins!!! 6 screws and pull the gun out!
Does anyone know Who might offer some type of a replacement Chamber-I'm ready to build one out of fire brick--LOL!!
Serious--any one know--where or who i can call to get a universal chamber-Hell they sell wet paks but i'd rather do better then that...
Thanks so much for any info--and everyone have a healty and happy new year!!!!! THANKS! MARK LI NY

Do yourself a favor....
and do it the right way. Rheem introduced a drum type oil furnace, the ROBB-067/084/112/ QA sometime in the mid/late 90's. The A series had a problem with the chamber design that occured after introduction. It had something to do with the front support and the chamber would separate from the front bulkhead allowing exhaust recirculation. Rheem updated the design to the B series which addressed the problem and redesigned the chamber mounting. To the best of my knowledge you need to install the B series update package to assure proper operation. The kit updates the fan/limit control and provides a burner tube upgrades. I have installed a few. It is the best way to solve the problem. Rheem might work with you on the kit cost. Really, do yourself a favor and do it the right way.0 -
RHEEM HOT AIR UNIT PROBLEM
Thanks for the reply.. I understand what you are saying 100%-i gave rheem my model number ROBC 084QAAA and they told me i have to buy the entire exchanger and chamber as a kit..I'd be better off buying a totally new unit! The B model chamber i had in my hand--A local guy nearby me sells it--But it doesnt look the same--The cut outs are on top mine are on the bottom (The slits where the exh gas exits the combustion chamber) The guy looked it up and told me this is for the B model. To me it looked different--Similar but some differences...
My Chamber is intact--however where the cut out are in the chamber on the bottom--thats where its falling apart.. The rest of the chamber is all together nice..
I'll re call Rheem tomorrow see what they say.. I do remember them telling me that the B chamber wont work-but i went to my local supplier just to look at it for my self--Looked almost the same but different..
Thanks--MARK0 -
slow
It my view that Rheem has been slow to admit their faults, frost pinch on the heat pump coils, gas furnace heat exchanger problems, water heater diptubes, just a few that come to mind. My best suggestion when dealing with Rheem/Rudd is to not give in. J.Lockard0
