comparing 2 oil-fueled boilers

My plumber recently installed the Peerless oil boiler with the carlin burner. My brother-in-law prefers and recommended the burnham boiler with the beckert burner. Are the two comparable or is one better than the other? The btu's needed for my house was min. 294,000 and the one installed goes up to 347,000 btus.

    Boiler

They are comparable . Burnham co. will give you better service and the Peerless a tad more efficant (By 3-5%).Both are well made.

Beckett or Carlin -Compatible , Carlin has a higher static pressure while Beckett is a decimal more quiet ..

Can't go wrong with either choice...

Most be big and/or old and very poor insulated house to have that high of a heat demand.....and your boiler is over sized, in my opinion..........and of course you just wanted to know the difference between the two boilers. Sorry I can't help you there.

    Are you sure you live.........

in a house with 4 walls and a roof (grin!)? That seems like an awfully high heat loss, unless your house is 8 or 10K square. Have you seen the heat loss analysis that was performed?

As far as those two boiler options, they are both good basic boilers. Comparable in operation and efficiencies. Beckett and Carlin are both good, basic burners, although, I give Beckett the nod for personal preference.
