Uneven Heat

We installed a new steam (Burnham) boiler in a house. Customer claims, other than at start up, the 2nd floor is 65 degrees while the first floor is 72. He also claims that before install the problem was just the opposite. He installed new maid o mist vents, and new main airs. I believe the pressure is fine, water level is good, gas pressure ok, yada yada yada........I'm stumped. Any suggestions?

The problem......
...... is in the venting.Maid of mist really is a hydronic air vent .Install a good adjustable valve like a Hoffman 1A or 1B on the radiators and proper size main vents .
The top floor has a larger heat loss then floors underneath so it will fall into a cooler heat cycle0 -
The Maid o mist are labeled "steam", and I have used them for steam in the past without problems.......as far as the 2nd floor any ideas why with the old boiler the second floor was too hot?0 -
What changed
You mentioned that the boiler and the vents have been changed and now there is a problem. The top floor heats up on the first heat cycle then cools down ?So we know the boiler has enough power to heat the system , right ? Seems to me the vents are not reopening for the second heating cycle. Pressuretrol should have a "cut-in" set at .5.Most steam valves reopen below 1# ... Sounds like a venting problem to me... Not sure about the maid of mists , to me they are more of a hydronic valve0 -
Maid-o-Mist
makes both steam and hot-water vents. Their steam units are similar to Gortons.
This type of unbalance can be caused by missing pipe insulation on the steam mains. Are they insulated?

Vents
Thanks ,I was thinking of their small hydronic auto bleeder that they also list under steam . They had a small stack of expanding disks .Did not know they made a float type steam vent. Sorry for the misunderstanding and thanks for the heads up..0
