Happy Hanukkah

Most of our customers are Jewish and really a great gang of folks. Montreal, like New York has a very large Jewish population. And man, do they feed ya! Most are very concerned human beings that are always asking how my family is. Pretty neat I think. I have even to offer money if i ever needed it. Also offered a job in Brooklyn if it ever got slow here(they know my mother is American). That alone says alot about the Jewish community.So...Happy Holidays....Shalom

    I once flew to Montreal

to look at a steam system for a guy named Leo Rabinovich. He couldn't find anyone in the area that could figure out his vapor system so he brought me up. This was when I was doing consulting, back around 1991.

Anyway, by his name I figured him to be about 70 years old. Turns out he was in his late-20s. We looked at the heating system, had a wonderful dinner and he was driving me back to my hotel near the airport. Along the way, I made a comment that NYC has the best bagels in the world. "Not so!" he said, and then turned the car around and drove back into the city. I had my first taste of a Montreal bagel that night. It was right up there with the ones from NYC.

Nice memory. Leo, wherever you are, I hope you're warm! ;-)

The best story tellers and listners

on the planet as a group. Only the Irish are close, I am Irish so I have to stick up for our story telling ability.
As a young man I lived on a two block street (in Coral Gables, Florida) with only two gentile families. It was very obvious at Christmas time and charming when the children on the block would look in our sliding patio doors to see our Christams tree.

I was lucky to be brought up in such a neighborhood. I was even luckier to be raised by a father/mother who despised prejudice of any kind.

Montreal has the best bagels. Come on now ! It had to be either Fairmount Bagels or St Viateur Bagels both open 24 hours a day.
So, you were here in '91. Was working at Union Carbide then putting in a couple of flair towers. Ran a 42" pipe line to it. You want to feel the earth move....man....you should of felt the ground when the steam first flew thru that line.
So what was so odd about this guys system?

a two-pipe vapor system in a beautiful old house. Nothing really odd about it. Just the usual kinks. Nice memory.

    hey George

Mostly irish here myself...family got here some 400 years ago from France. But they kept on marrying the irish till the french was all but gone. But your right...the irish are great story tellers up there with the jewish community.
The only problem is by the time the irish start telling their stories they are slurring their words. I'll have to post some of the stories i have heard at a later date.
