\"Nice Guys Finish...............................\"

Just got done reading Dan's "Nice Guys Finish" in the December issue of Supply House Times. As usual, great stuff from Dan.

I did see one paragraph that caught my eye; it's about residential jobs that shouldn't EVER need boiler-feed pumps. Does the commentary apply to VAPOR-SYSTEMS only ???

With these super small steam boilers I end up selling I get a bit spooked by the small quanity of water I have to work with. I thought condensate feed pumps would be the appropriate way to deal with that.

Thanks, Nels

    I think

that if the returns are clean, the pipes are insulated, the traps and vent are working, then the two-pipe steam system that's in a home should work without a boiler-feed pump. Steam expands at a 1700:1 ratio. You can fill a lot of pipes with that much steam.
    Retired and loving it.
