Hi Guys,

Our machine is starting to slip, what's the cure? Can an average Joe like me change the jaws? It's only 15 years old or so- the machine is a beast!

    Gary,

Go to the local supply house and get some new teeth for the jaw. I believe there are a set of 3 for the main.

If it's skipping because of the motor, good luck. The folks that can repair them are few, and far between. These were beastly machines, compared to the stuff that is available today, and the motors were animal.

Believe it or not....I found 1 for sale in the local want ads a couple years back. It cost about a 10th of the cost of a new one, and with some TLC, worked as well. (the guy was selling off his fathers old stuff and didn't know what he was holding)

Now that H.D. is selling Rigid, I'm not sure of how they handle a request for service. I may be short sighted, but I'm skeptical.Chris

    you can

change the jaws yourself. fairly easy to do!

I have also changed the motor on the rigid 300. not very difficlut, but it is time consuming. your rep should be able to tell you were to get service if you need it

    3 bolts

I think 3 bolts will pull the motor out of a Ridgid 300 been a while. Power should unplug at the switch (Twist lock I believe) find a local Rigid repair shop they can rebuild that motor like new and your good to go for the next 20 years. When you put the motor back in Gary just take your time and make sure its lined up correctly so you do not chip a tooth. you should be able to get a exploded view picture from Ridgid or your Ridgid dealer that will give you a complete parts breakdown. I was able to get a print for my 1957 Ridgid 400 Which will cut a thread with the best of 'em Best wishes J.Lockard
