Calculating Heat Load?

I have a hunch that the 4 year old 'semi-commercial-grade' Peerless steam boiler that is rated to 384,000 btu/hr is too much power for my radiators' and piping's needs. Where on heatinghelp.com can I get info on how to determine if that is true? Or are there some "back-of-the-envelope"-style formulas that a homeowner such as myself can use to roughly determine the load needs for my house? I seem to recall something about cast iron and 240 btu/square foot/hour.....
What sort of time is considered "short cycling?" 5 minutes on/5 minutes off? 4 minutes on/12 minutes off?
I try to read The Wall every few days or so, and remember a thread from a few weeeks ago that discussed all of this, but for the life of me, I cannot find any of the info. [And unfortunately I don't have the space or time to use the dipping-radiators-in-paint method to determine their square footage. :) ]
Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah to all.....
