Needed End of Main Traps??

I have a one pipe system with end of main steam traps and a condensate pump. Is there any good reason to have end of main steam traps on a one-pipe system?

Sure is.
The trap keeps the steam out of the vented condensate receiver.Retired and loving it.0 -
Really?
Well shouldn't the water in the pipes keep the steam out of the receiver? Dan Holohan's book never mentions steam traps in a one pipe system id there a reason for that?

Not it won't.
Trust me; you need a trap.Retired and loving it.0 -

Thanks for the advice. I have one that makes enough noise to wake the dead. I want to rebuild it. Although not too observant, I am pretty handy. How difficult is it to rebuild?0 -

Special Tools
Are there any special tools needed to do the job. Any gotchas on removing the traps?0 -
Much depends
on what starts to break once you begin taking things apart. Personally, I stick to my keyboard and let the pros handle these things for me. I'd much rather do what I do best, make money at it, and then pay an expert to do what he does best. It keeps the economy chugging along. ;-)Retired and loving it.0
