Plates Under Slab

going to get any less water temp. You already have a huge mass. The best thing to do with this room is floor warming and use some type of panel radation (ie. Runtal) that will give you the same radiant feel. If you size the runtal properly you could use the water temp from that radiant zone.

Plates under a slab?
I'll soon be starting a job, slab on grade, that has a small sitting area with walls that are all windows. Water temp in this area needs to be 147 to get a surface temp of 79 degrees. The rest of the zone only requires 107 water. Rather than running supplemental, what would the be the effect of throwing in some stamped plates embedded in the slab? Would the concrete eventually eat up the aluminum? Has anyone ever tried this? Any thoughts?

No reduction in water temp?
If I put tubing in the slab at 6" rather than 12" spacing the water temp goes down. If I add plates to a staple-up system the water temp goes down. Why wouldn't the same be true here?

spacing
Why not just go with tighter spacing in the high heatloss area?

Tube spacing
I've got tubing going in at 6" on center and still need 147 degree water. I don't think I can get it much tighter than that.

the idea of...
adding the plates on a staple up is to increase the surface area contact for heat transmission...in a slab you already have full contact around the pipe with cement...you will just make it harder to get the properly poured.I'm sure the concrete guys will frown. You need more tube or supplimental. Can you add to the walls? kpc0 -

No, I can't do walls very well because of all the low windows. And since I staple my tubing directly to the foam I don't think the concrete guys would care about having the plates there.
It looks like I may have to go back to my original plan of putting Runtal panels around the perimeter and running the mixed water through them. I just thought that since the aluminum plates seem to actually increase the effective surface area of the tubing, this idea might work. Or not.
