one pipe steam system

Replacing and old steam boiler looks like it was installed in or around 1950.The old piping is piped with two risers going into a main header with a condensate pipe coming from inbetween the two risers back into bottom of boiler???anyone ever come across this old type of setup.I know its important to read thru installation instructions when installing a new boiler, but in my mind this piping arrangement seems the same as the hartford loop set up.Thanks for any comments
