We saw the same thing! Apparently he thinks the arrow means point up. This house was maybe 3400 sqft and he insisted nothing but a 6 section boiler would do it.

    How to pipe a boiler

Responded to a no heat call the other day, the woman said that there was air in the baseboard loop again and it would not heat part of the house. She stated that this was a constant problem, all I needed to do was bleed the system for her and it would be ok for a few weeks again. She also said "that was what her regular guys did!" I asked how long this had been going on and she replied "for about three years now, since they did the remodeling". I told her that this was not normal and asked to see the rest of the system. When we got to the basement I found a steady stream of water comeing from the relief valve. She had been told that this the way it was supposed to be to keep fresh water in the boiler!!! Also found that the relief valve and the air vent had just been changed in the last few months. I like competition like this, it keeps work coming to us without a lot of advertiseing. After repiping and replaceing the expansion tank and relief valve the system now functions and the floor is dry and the woman is happy and has recommended us to five other people.

    Bleeder

I could be wrong but doesn't the bleeder need to be vertical to work? Also the Air scoop? sure you didn't hit the bar before the job LOL just kidding around, I'm sure the other guys did!

    hitting the bar

That would be ironic and could have happened easily. The front half of this house is a small country bar!

    Thanks Dave

I still consider myself somewhat of a novice around here. But you sure know how to make a guy feel knowledgable and competent. Hey Dan, why don't you start collecting pictures like this and put them in a book. "Americas funniest home boiler jobs." or something like that. I would buy one. Kevin

"It didn't say nuttin' in the instructions other than the water HAS to flow in the direction of the arrow..."

  • Just curious!

Was this boiler equipped to be an induced draft boiler using AL29-4C stainless or was it somehow field modified? I can't recall seeing a canopy connection quite like this one.

    warning labels

and we wonder why they print warnings on coffee cups like "contents hot will burn you if you spill it". Those guys are too dumb to be Jay Leno's Jaywalkers.

    Air scoop

I had one not too long ago where the guy installed the air eliminator on the 1/2" boiler feed. I guess he figured if he could catch all the air while the system was filling all would be well!

    There's your competition folks!

    But I'll bet it's a "reputable company".

    Can't compete with them right?

    So Stop!

    Do it right!

    NO competition!

    This is too easy!
