For those of you with small children

I would like to pass on some hard earned advice. I am now 66 and have had an extremely full life. I certainly have not been cheated in any way.

My advice is enjoy this wonderful time you will have with Christmas and your small children. It only comes once and then before you know it is gone. I was given this same advice as a young man and I did not fully realize what that meant. Each year I now remember with great fondness what a wonderful time I had with my four small children.

It is so obvious and yet each generation should remind those that are now it that position. Like John Hall and his realization put to writing about the way he appreciated his wife, this also is some times put on the back burner do to the pressures of our lives.

Merry Christmas to all and may the New Year be better than you could ever imagine.

110% right

When I started my family, we decided that Christmas was for us. We don't run all over the countryside visiting and comparing baubles. we get up, unwrap and have fun. Any one is welcome to drop in, and we may accept an invitation, but we make NO plans. I have 3 beautiful daugthers and christmas is the best time we have.

Mothers advice

When my first son was born I told my mother " I can't wait till he's older so we can talk and do things ".

She told me not to wish his life away.

Now he's six and growing quickly. Life goes by so fast.

You really have no idea how right you are

It is absolutely amazing how fast the time goes and how quickly the moments we treasure become distant memories.
I really intended my post to be about children and Christmas, but it is true in so many other relationships and maybe that is even the greater need to stop and smell the roses as we dance merrily through our lives.
Those that are dear to us are extremely affected by what we do and it is so easy to forget and not take the time. A "well done" to a child could be all the catalyst that child needs to do great things. The same is true for the chemistry between two adults. Christmas time is a good time to start. This idea has nothing to do with religious belief, it is just a good idea on its own merits.
