replaced a boiler a month or so the origal boiler or system had the same promblem the re are two mains both 2" one main heats fast right after it's first 90 there are 4 rads within 4 ft of the header then with in another 6 to 7 ft another 3 rad and on the other main it runs about 15 to 18 ft with 3 rads at the end of the main before it drops and heads back to the boiler as a dry return the old boiler heated very slow and had the same promblem with these 3 rads i've changed all the rad vents to gortons and installed 2 no 1 ai the end of my promblem main and a 3/8 gorton on the quick heating main i believe i have # 6 or c 's on the promblem rads yet it still heats only after the first cycle just about ends 20 minutes i know the mains and the nearboiler piping is correct 2 1/2 drop header all pipes insulated looking for some input i was thinking of removing the main vent on the fast heating main and installing i believe gorton c on those 3 promblem rads . the promblem rads are on the south east side of the house while my fast heating main is on the north west side i believe that it's the fact that the one main is much shorter and has 4 rads right off the main very close to the boiler and the rest of the rads on that line are also very short runs all those rads are being ventae with gorton 3 4 and 5 if i remenber right it's been a couple of weeks since i've been there other wise the systems runs gereat no surging 1 1/2 psig on cut off no banging thanks for any info you out there steamhead

    Is it possible

the return is backing up water enough to close the vent on the slow main? This usually also causes banging, but you never know......

    no banging

there is no surging or banging the main supplies and returns are all pichted correctly i believe that the fast heating main is because 4 rads are so close to the boiler while the other main the rADS ARE AT THE END OF THE AND ARE LARGE RADS I 'VE NEVER HAD THIS TYPE OF PROMBLENM BEFORE OF COURSE THE SLOWER MAIN IS ON THE SOUTH EAST SIDE OF THE HOME WHILE THE NORTH WEST SIDE HEATS GREAT i'm going there today to put gorton c on
