HELP NEEDED!
I am helping on a job that has taken a twist.
It started as a Hot Water system for a new three story addition in which they are installing Runtal radiators with a Munchkin Boiler (L/P).
The existing house is Steam with an oil fired boiler (2.25 GPH Nozzle). I was just called. I have not calculated the radiation. I do not know much about the steam system, as I have not been in the existing house yet.
Now they ask if they can put in a larger L/P boiler to replace the oil fired boiler.
What additional info is required to evaluate?
Is this possible, if so I welcome details/ideas.
If so would all the existing radiators need to be replaced.
Thanks,

If they want
to convert the steam system to hot water, that can be a real can of worms. I find it's easier and much, much less expensive to fix a steam system than to convert it. Go here for more:

I would also have to ask why they want to use LP, since its cost per BTU is almost always higher than oil. If they just don't like oil, an LP-fired steam boiler (or maybe a conversion burner if a good one is available) is a much better way to go than converting the steam system.
