This was not functioning but I'm sure it condensed a lot of steam to water in it's day.

Very pretty,
Dale. Nice to see you here every now and then here on The Wall even though it was only two sentences; very unusual.
Happy holdidays to you as well.

That's a \"Rococo\"
made by American Radiator Co. Where did you find it?

Wow, what a beauty! I hate to see that thing cold, though.0 -
Interesting that you would know the make. It's not really an attempt at snow melting. As near as I can tell, it was half buried to serve as a curb to pull a car up to. It's actually just a couple of blocks away from my office. I always thought it was curious that someone would do that with an old radiator. When I saw it with the snow on it and had my camera handy, I thought I'd share it with the wet heads.

Pretty Simple
The Rococo is the only ornate column radiator I know of that was not held together with long rods. In its later version, the sections were assembled with right-and-left-threaded nipples. Earlier versions used the more-usual rods and push-nipples. This particular one could handle hot water as well as steam.
Also, you can see some of the lettering "American Radiator Co" about halfway up the center column of the end section.
If I were out there I'd offer to buy it, put it in the truck (if it would fit) and bring it back to Baltimore. I know I could find it a good home!

Aren't you due for a vacation soon? I hear Montana's beautiful in the winter! Kind of a tough drive, though, in the snow.0 -
Been there, done that
but didn't see the radiator the times I was there........

Ornate
I love those old ornate designs. There is nothing like it. Makes baseboard look pathetic, but such is the cost of progress.0
