Lat night for my Hydronics class
Wayco Wayne
Member Posts: 615
was the last night for the class I took on, teaching hydronics. As I had hoped the one doing the most learning was me. If I teach again next year I think I will be more organized and better structured. (Rome wasn't built in a day you know) The class, all of whom were scorched air mechanics have developed an appreciation for the new hydronics and now know of the better comfort and zone-ability of a radiant world. Many of them report to me that their bosses have made them the boiler and hot water guy when hydronic service calls come in. After class they took me out to a Hooters restaurant where I had the honor of buying them the first 2 Pitchers. They then lied to the waitress and told her it was my birthday. I was then rounded up by a large group of Hooters girls and made to stand on a stool in the middle of the restaurant, holding a paper plate in each hand, flapping my arms like a bird while they sang me the Hooters birthday song. I was touched that my students showed me the love, by embarassing the crap out of me. All in all I enjoyed myself very much. Thanks guys. WW

Congratulations!!
What's this IF crap??? You WILL be back.
Although the pay is not that great, seeing the light bulb go on over thier heads is worth the time. I just turned out 21 new, highly educated wet headed hydronicians myself. Makes ya pretty proud.
Keep up the good work Wayne, the industry NEEDS you.

Egads!
I've been called to service by the Grand Pubah from Colorado. No Worrys Mark. I will most likely be back. I'm just usually a bit tired by the end of an endeaver like teaching that the idea of starting up again is daunting. By next Fall I'll be chomping at the bit to start up again. If you are coming to Wetstock in Baltimore I'll be sure to ask you on your approach and resources and such stuff. Organizing a class is the hardest part for me. Talking is the easiest. Thanks WW

If we can
help in any way by supplying literature to you for your classes, we would certainly do it. It would be a very good way to explain the chemistry problems that can happen in hydronic systems.
Just send me an e-mail and the quanity needed.0 -
Hi, Wayne!
Have you discovered PowerPoint yet? It is (IMHO) the best teaching tool in the world. Combine the pc & a projector with a well-designed presentation, you'll keep them awake and learning! Just drop me an email or phone call, and I'll get you whatever literature or other stuff you may need. Training is one of my favorite things to do, and I learn something new with every class, and when they graduate, or you see the look on their faces when they finally "get it"...it's priceless. Congratulations!0 -
Thanks guys!
I will touch base with you both. Learning Power point is on my list of things to do. They did have a computer and porjector. I copied some pictures off the Wall to show them where this addiction can lead. You should have seen the look on their face and hear them ask. "Who is this heatboy guy?" While I'm at it I'd like to thank the folks who contributed to our effort. Dan Foley for inviting us to the RPA Dinner for a field trip to hear some guy named Dan Holahan, Jack Guilfoyle for representing B & G and showing us why circulator curves are cool. (Chicks dig it when you talk about pump curves. Jack said so.) and Wes from Wirsbo who obviously loves his work and was ready to talk about propanels past quitting time if my students would only of let him (They didn't).
