A hydronic unit capable of being retro-fit into millions of applications or in new construction? Compact and attractive?
Easy to install and wire? Designed with the installer in mind? Impossible?
Well, check this out. We installed these in place of a failed 1940's era radiant system and the owners are warmly tickled. Ardent readers, they wanted a comfortable space in which to curl up with a good book.
Vertical, horizontal, ceiling mounted, wall mounted and even recessed in the floor models are coming our way soon.
These were installed on a 1940's era 3-way weather responsive mixing valve (still works like a champ) and immediately began blowing a gentle warm tropical-like breeze that invites one to grab a book and set a spell.
Variable speed axial fan that responds to room temps.

Wow
Hey Dave, very cool. I talked to Bill at Danfoss on this, 1350 btuH/ft, almost ready for the US market too!!! I can not wait to see one for myself..... and the cost is not out of this world either :-)
BTW, did you do the original install of those B&G 100's? (they look almost as old as you are!)

Tours now available
Wheels,
C'mon down (or up, as the case might be) and I'll arrange a first-hand tour.
Pricing was discussed & I suggested a retail of $50.00 for the 8 foot units(G).
When I first started in the trades, we had gravity circulation (both for steam and hot water heating). We had to walk to work - uphill both ways - through 5' of snow and all for .50 cents an hour. When circulators first came out, they were coal fired steam driven pumps similar to what was being used on rail line locomotives. You might think old T Edison invented the light bulb first, but he had to invent a circ motor to save all of the time he was spending stoking the circ fires.

Saw these today
Nice PAH, I visited with two of your "comfort team" today. I see it wouldn't have been a "kodak moment" without Bill's bright red Danfoss shirt.
I was amazed when they plugged the unit in today, absolutely silent.
Very impressive product.
I understand the dinner over at the Yates Castle started with drinks and appetizers down in the Yates' boiler room.
Well done, all guests should be required to pay homage to your boiler prior to enjoying a meal.
Long time no talk.

Boiler top Horsedoobers
What better spot to begin a party than in the mechanical room while data logging?
T'was only fair that I show Laars that not all American boiler rooms are equipped with 70-year-old 60% efficient cast iron behemoths with dual standing-pilots that maintain a constant temperature while thermostats simply switch the circulators on/off to maintain space temps. The look on his face was priceless as he wrestled with that set up! In Denmark, he said, all boilers are weather responsive with constant circulation and each heat emitter is then controlled by its thermostat. Get this - no hot air systems are permitted!
He was, on the other hand, fascinated by both the Burnham Revolution and the Munchkin boilers. He spent some time studying my maze of copper piping with too many circs attached (where a single circ would have worked had I the individual heat emitter thermostatic controls), but politely witheld comments about using excess energy(G).
How bout them fans! When they were first turned on, Laars asked if we could hear them running. We all stopped working and stood stock-still. Sure enough, we all said we could clearly hear the fans, although it was faint. Oddly enough, the noise seemed to be getting softer & then it hit me - we were hearing the noise of water running from a remote bathroom from a toilet having been flushed. A minute later, there was absolute silence and those fans (four of them - each 6' long) were all running at max speed. So, I moved to where my ear was only an inch away from the blades - no noise at all. Laars said the fans use just .04 Btu's of energy at 1,050 RPM's. 9 volts DC at max speed, so they'd be an ideal compliment to solar systems. I see opportunities out the wahzoo.

Thanks
Dave:
Thanks for the opportunity to spend the day installing these nice new convectors. All in all a great day, followed by a wonderful evening at the Yates residence for an evening of hydronics talk.
More to come from Danfoss on the Convec systems in the near future. You can visit: www.convec.com for more details, but for right now the only language avaialbe is Danish. Should have gotten a lessen from Lars...
