New homeowner has a cold radiator

Help! I have hot water heat (I'm not sure which variety), and one radiator is cold, despite my turning the knob at the base of the radiator both directions. Is there some other way the previous homeowner could have disabled this radiator that I can reverse myself, or do I need to call in a professional? Thanks a lot -- A panicked first-time homeowner.

no heat in rad
You'll need to describe this a little better, How many pipes are connected to each radiator? Is there an air vent on one end? what fuel do you use?0 -
SOLVED! I kept reading on the internet, and by golly, bleeding the radiator got it to heat up almost immediately!
Thanks.
