a company added 1 pipe baseboard to a 1 pipe steam system without running a second return for it or pitching it properly.i am going to run a 3/4 inch return off this 1 1/4 line to allow the condensate to return and to stop the air vent from spitting water all over.i intend on looping the line back into the steam main before the boiler(5 foot loop for the condensate). is it possible to reconnect this return into the bottom of the 1 1/4 supply to the radiator just before the 2 1/2 steam main or does it have to reconnect to the steam main(2 1/2 inch line) for proper flow. any insight would be appreciated. if i am not explaining this clearly enough, please look in the lost art of steam heating(red book), page #100 for reference.i am trying to avoid cutting the 2 1/2 inch steam main.
thank you

you can do that
tie in to the bottom of the runout pipe and you'll be all set.
